Autumn is here and isn’t it the most wonderful season?? Everything just becomes a little more warm and cosy – the colours, the clothes, the smells, urrrggghhhh I just love it all!!! Of course I cant go any further without mentioning Christmas, my most favourite time of year eeekkkkk – I’m impatiently waiting for November to arrive so I can go into proper full ‘Christmas mode’. For the moment though, lets focus on the current season and a few of my makeup and beauty loves right now!
1. Morphe 35O Palette
Today’s post is all about make-up for mature skin. This isn’t something I have had a huge amount of experience with but I did cover the basics when I was studying at The Academy of Make-Up. I was having a little practice on my aunt who is in her early 50’s and in fairness she does have ridiculously great skin for her age so my job was made really easy. I really liked the look, so I though I would share it with you all as well as some hints and tips when it comes to older skin.
As women enter their 50’s they can suffer from many frustrating skin complaints mainly due to hormonal changes brought about by menopause, some of these are:
- Thinning skin
- Hot flashes
- Fine Lines
- Thinning brows
- Increased skin sensitivity
- Sagging eyelids
I thought I would do a review of a great eyeshadow palette by Sleek Make-Up that I have been using for a while, its actually one of my favourites. I have mentioned before about my love for Sleek, they are such a great high street brand producing great quality make-up, I cant get enough of their eyeshadow palette’s and at £7.99 they are incredibly affordable and amazing value for money, so you can’t blame me for ending up with way more than I could ever need. I also have their cream blush, contour, brow and highlighting palettes, I am obsessed!!
If I had to choose a favourite, it would be the Oh So Special Eyeshadow Palette, it has a great mix of colours perfect for a daytime or evening look!!
Last night I had the pleasure of attending the exclusive Beauty Confidential event at House of Fraser in Glasgow. This was an opportunity to discover all of this season’s key beauty trends and new products!! The event was held in the gorgeous ground floor beauty hall of the store with demonstrations and beauty tips from all the big brands including Bobbi Brown, Chanel, YSL and Lancôme – HOF’s team of brand skincare specialists were also on hand to offer mini massages. It’s never a good thing for me to be let loose at these sorts of events so its needless to say I made a few purchases by the end of the night!!
Ticket price was £10, another bargain through Itison Events and was redeemable against any purchases on the night, I also got a lovely big goody bag on my way out with lots of samples.
Here are some of the highlights from the night:
With her flawless skin, large doe eyes and huge pout, Kylie Jenner’s beauty look has become hugely sought-after and inspired hundreds of thousands of Youtube make-up tutorials and Instagram selfies.
How does she do it, I hear you ask……….. Kylie’s personal make-up artist Hrush Achemyan spilled the beans on how she achieves this super polished look and now we can all have a go!!
Before i started my course at The Academy of Make-up I didn’t have a clue what the difference was between pressed and pure pigment eye shadows, so here’s a quick definition:
Highly concentrated loose coloured powder that ranges from subtle to ultra-intense effects depending on application. Mix with eye shadow or use it on its own to intense effect.
I am a huge fan of Zoeva brushes but prior to this purchase i had never actually used any make-up products. As you can see from the colour swatch on my skin below, this colour is very intense but quite subtle – It adds a hint of glamour to any basic eye shadow or smoky eye look.
