Today I bring you a review of the dreamy Becca Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector. If you aren’t already familiar with Jaclyn Hill, she is a Florida-based beauty YouTuber and makeup artist and with over 2 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, she has become something of an internet sensation. Last year seen her collaborate with Becca Cosmetics to create a gorgeous limited edition pressed highlighter – Champagne Pop. Described as a “soft white gold with pinky peach undertones,” its sold exclusively at Space NK in the UK and Sephora worldwide (it actually broke Sephora’s record for most purchased product on its first day of release) Impressive eh!!!
So my life couldn’t be anymore different in 2016, I am now trying to balance blogging and a baby – it may just be luck but I’ve managed to ‘persuade’ him to take a nap. So with this window of opportunity I bring you my first review of 2016 and its a special one – this is a product I have had my eye on for a long time and I’m so happy to say it hasn’t disappointed! Say hello the the holy grail of primers – Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel – well technically it’s not a primer, but if you ask me, it’s a ruddy good multi-tasker!! If you want longer wearing make-up, a dewy fresh complexion as well as minimising pores and fine lines look no further – this bad boy is for you.
Today I bring you the dreamy, gloriousness of Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid in Sunkissed. This product was a little bit of a splurge for me and I have to say I came across it totally by accident whilst shopping in House of Fraser – I originally had my sights set on the Chanel Le Blanc De Chanel Multi-Use Illuminating Base (it’s still on my wish list)
I really wanted to do a short review on the Soleil Tan de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Fluid as spending that little bit extra money on a designer make-up brand can sometimes be quite a consideration and there are so many highlighters on the market, it’s a minefield!
What Chanel says: Sheer, weightless liquid instantly brightens skin and evens out skin tone. Light-reflecting pigments provide radiance and luminosity. Botanical extracts soften, smooth and moisturize. Oil free. Fragrance free.
For those of you who don’t know Fifi Lapin, let me introduce you. Since 2007 this international it-bunny and stylish fashionista has taken the world by storm. Described by Elle Magazine as ‘the world’s most stylish bunny’, she has amassed a legion of loyal fans who flock to her critically acclaimed blog for inspiration and style advice. Having collaborated on capsule collections for Topshop, ASOS, Le Sportsac and more recently Mamas & Papas, she has now branched into beauty working with high street retailer Boots to release a super cute make-up and lifestyle gift range.
I have long been a huge fan of Fifi Lapin and she actually inspired my blog name, I particularly love the fashion illustrations – here a few of my favourite:
After writing about a few different options when it comes to investing in a good set of make-up brushes, I thought it might be an idea to give a bit of an overview on some of the key brushes you will use and what they are for. I found this amazing cheat sheet on Pinterest by drugstoreprincess.com, so now you have no excuse, get those brushes bought and get your face on!!
I am a huge fan of budget make-up brand Sleek and I thought I would do a quick post on the Vintage Romance Eye Shadow Palette. I bought this fairly recently and had a play with some of the colours over the weekend to create a lovely classic smoky eye.
Sleek is available in most Superdrug stores and can also be purchased online – this palette is a total bargain at £7.99!! View Post
With her flawless skin, large doe eyes and huge pout, Kylie Jenner’s beauty look has become hugely sought-after and inspired hundreds of thousands of Youtube make-up tutorials and Instagram selfies.
How does she do it, I hear you ask……….. Kylie’s personal make-up artist Hrush Achemyan spilled the beans on how she achieves this super polished look and now we can all have a go!!
The reasons why I love make-up are truly countless. Make-up is so much fun to play and experiment with, I could easily while away the hours trying out new looks and products. If you have an insecurity or flaw, you can easily transform yourself, that is the power of make-up. It’s not there to cover up your beauty, it enhances it in the best way and in the process makes you feel really good about yourself.
Here are the top 5 reasons why I love make-up:
- It gives you a major confidence boost
- It’s an important form of self-expression
- Make-up is art – you only have to look at the amazing work of artists such as Alex Box and Pat McGrath to name but a few
- It’s a great way to pamper yourself – there is nothing better in life than cracking open a brand new lipstick or eyeshadow palette! I actually find putting on make-up quite relaxing and therapeutic.
- It makes me happy 🙂
