As I mentioned in my previous post, I have only recently graduated as a fully-fledged Make-Up Artist and my journey up until this point has been quite a long one. I done a lot of research over the years on different courses which included a lot of ‘humming and hawing’ about whether to actually take the plunge. I am 33 now and I did ask myself the question ‘am I too old’, but after careful consideration and many crisis’s of confidence I opted for a course at The Academy of Make-Up.
The school is recognised as one of if not the best in Scotland, one of the main reasons why I chose the Pro Make-up Course they offer. This course ran over 11 Sundays which was perfect as I work full time during the week and is based right in the heart of Glasgow City Centre.
Subjects covered over the 11 weeks included:
Week 1 – Flawless foundation application
Week 2 – Lip correction: perfect red and nude lip application
Week 3 – Perfect arched brows, tweezing, eye shadow texture theory, applying single and full strip lashes, and beautiful eye make-up application.
Week 4 – Bridal Make-up Day
Week 5 – Smokey Eye Make-up
Week 6 – Mineral and Metallics Make-up
Week 7 – Vintage Make-up
Week 8 – Fashion Creative
Week 9 – Editorial
Week 10 – Backstage: The latest trends and looks hot off the catwalk
Week 11 – PHOTOSHOOT DAY!!!
I honestly cannot believe how many looks we got through over the 11 weeks and when I look at my progression from week 1 until photo-shoot day I can hardly believe that I did them myself!!
If anyone is looking into any kind of make-up or hair training I could not recommend these guys highly enough! The training exceeded my expectations and was so much fun. Our tutors where a fountain of knowledge and more than happy to answer any questions no matter how silly you think it might be!
Below is some images of my time at the Academy 🙂
