Review: Exciting New Scottish Natural Skincare Brand – Lucky Cloud

Lucky cloud logo

Hello Bunnies,

Today I would like to introduce you to a great new Scottish skincare brand called Lucky Cloud, but first a little bit of background – beginning in her kitchen in Edinburgh in early 2013, founder and maker Lucy Caldwell began experimenting with simple lip balm recipes, which quickly sparked her enthusiasm for creating more complex formulations. Having suffered from dry, itchy and eczema prone skin for most of her adult life, she began experimenting with making moisturising creams. Wanting to learn more, she enrolled in course and began researching and experimenting further.

Meet Lucy:

After 2 years of testing recipes on friends, fine tuning and brand development; she launched her initial range in April 2015.  All products are handmade in small batches, using specially chosen, quality raw materials which are all plant based to create moisture rich, nourishing and soothing products for your skin. Products are 100% vegan and contain no parabens, formaldehydes, mineral oils or animal testing.

Look at these scrummy products, I am such a sucker for nice packaging!!

Lucy very kindly sent me some samples to try out for myself – Sweet Orange & Vanilla Hydrating Body Butter, Lavender & Rose Geranium Soothing Body Balm and Coconut Lip Butter.

Hydrating Body Butter: Sweet Orange & Vanilla – £15 for 120ml

This is the first of the samples that I tried out over the past week, as well as the sweet orange and vanilla scent this body butter is also enriched with Calendula Oil and Cocoa Butter.  The body butter is lovely and rich and feels like velvet on the skin.  From the picture below you can see it has a lovely thick creamy moisturiser consistency – my skin felt super soft after application.

Soothing Body Balm: Lavender & Rose Geranium – £15 for 60ml

This was my favourite product of all the samples, the scent was to die for – normally I’m not keen on anything ‘rose’ scented but this was so fresh and clean.  The consistency of this was more oily, a little like Vaseline but not as thick.  I am pregnant at the moment so I have been lathering this all over my belly, its super hydrating and soothing to my itchy skin.  I have actually gone through half the jar since I took the picture above – gorgeous product!!

Coconut Lip Butter – £4

I absolutely LOVE anything with a coconut scent and this didn’t disappoint – its like a holiday in a little pot!  How cute is the packaging??!!  I especially love the little sliding lid and cute tin pot, it’s also a great handy compact size – perfect for your handbag.  All ingredients are completely natural – including coconut butter, sweet almond oil, thistle oil, vitamin e oil, cocoa butter and soya wax. The lip butter also comes in vanilla and cocoa scents.  I am terrible for not taking care of my lips but this has been a lifesaver with the weather getting colder recently.

I really enjoyed trying out Lucky Cloud Skincare and I will definitely be purchasing more when I run out. I would say the products are priced mid range (around £15 for a body butter) a little more expensive than your average high street brand but what you are getting is a 100% handmade truly natural product. The ingredients are also 100% vegan and even the packaging is environmentally friendly – you know exactly what you are getting and where its came from.

I hope you all enjoyed the review! Id love to know if there are any great skincare products that you can recommend!!
