REVIEW: Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel Multi-Use Illuminating Base

Hello Bunnies,

So my life couldn’t be anymore different in 2016, I am now trying to balance blogging and a baby – it may just be luck but I’ve managed to ‘persuade’ him to take a nap.  So with this window of opportunity I bring you my first review of 2016 and its a special one – this is a product I have had my eye on for a long time and I’m so happy to say it hasn’t disappointed!  Say hello the the holy grail of primers – Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel – well technically it’s not a primer, but if you ask me, it’s a ruddy good multi-tasker!!  If you want longer wearing make-up, a dewy fresh complexion as well as minimising pores and fine lines look no further – this bad boy is for you.

As mentioned Chanel Le Blanc de Chanel Multi-Use Illuminating Base is not a primer but an illuminating base, it can be applied before foundation for more radiance, mixed with foundation to lighten the shade or directly over foundation to highlight cheekbones, the curve of the forehead and the bridge of the nose. There is no need to apply a separate primer when using this, and for me, no other product that I have ever used has came close to the dreamy base this gives your foundation – it blurs every imperfection and gives the most healthy, radiant glow.

As you can see from the pic below, the packaging is everything you would expect from Chanel, slick and understated.  The bottle also has a handy pump which makes application really easy, you can control exactly how much product you are using.  When you first see the white colour of the liquid and its thick consistency, its quite scary, but don’t worry it totally absorbs into the skin.

Now for the science bit – Le Blanc De Chanel contains:

– Witch hazel extract to reduce the appearance of pores
– Silica and mica powders of mineral origin to mattify the complexion
– Liquorice extract to even out the skin`s texture
– A moisturising complex to restore softness and absolute comfort.

The product is also completely oil free, this did take some getting used to and I can only describe the sensation on your skin as tight – you know when you wash your face and havn’t yet applied moisturiser, its a similar feeling to that.  I do have quite an oily t-zone so the absence of oil in the product is also a major bonus for me.

I could literally go on all day about how amazing this product is – YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE!!

Chanel Blanc De Chanel Multi-Use Illuminating Base is £33 for 30ml, available at Debenhams.

I hope you have enjoyed reading, if there are any ‘cant live without’ products that you have used, I would love to know!

Until next time,

  1. Oh my, I really want to try this, even on my student budget, haha! Maybe around spring or summer, I feel like a dewy face looks so good then!

    • Hi Elise, it’s definitely worth the splurge if you can afford it. I actually bought this from Debenhams when they had a beauty event so saved 10%!! There is also a similar budget product – L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer, you can get this for £9.99 at Boots xx

  2. Chanel is one of those brands I just want to trolley dash and grab everything, though I do think they could make things look a little more appealing x

  3. Congrats on the new baby, but bigger congrats on fitting in a blog post too! I think new mums should be encouraged to spend a little on things like this that they love, even if finances feel tight with the new arrival.

  4. This looks fab! I haven’t spent much on skin care or makeup since having kids, but I might look in to this, it sounds great! I’ve tried different primers and never find they do what I want them to do, maybe this will have a better effect.

  5. Oh this sounds like such a lovely product, who doesn’t want that gorgeous dewy look to their makeup? I currently use MAC Strobe Cream as my base but it’s almost gone and when it is I wouldn’t mind trying out this product for myself. I need oil free products for my combination skin and oily t-zone.
